BBC apologizes for following Pistorius update with song about murder
2/19/2013British radio listeners face-palmed Thursday after a BBC station played the gun-happy Jimi Hendrix song "Hey Joe" right after an update about Oscar Pistorius, the Olympian charged with murdering his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. The classic Hendrix hit is about a man who shoots his wife to death and includes the lyrics, "Where you goin' with that gun in your hand? / I'm goin' down to shoot my old lady / You know I caught her messin' 'round with another man." Recent updates to Pistorius case have suggested the track star was upset with Steenkamp over her possible contact with an ex. The BBC issued a formal apology and said that an on-air apology was made as soon as the DJ realized the mistake. [Source]
