Beach soccer player loses it after scoring own goal
7/5/2012Beach soccer might seem to be a lay-about version of the real thing, but the players get just as steamed up. First England player Matthew Evans was guilty of an own goal that ricocheted first off the goalkeeper and then his own forehead. Then, rather than just accepting the general shame of it all, he picked up the offending ball and drilled it into the back of the head of a Belarus player walking away from the play. You can understand the frustration: England lost this match in a qualifying tournament for the World Cup — in Tahiti. But you have to draw a line in the sand about sportsmanship somewhere.
Do you think he meant to hit the Belarus player?
