Town sign makes exception for much-loved 18-year-old local dog
2/25/2013Bear Dog is such a V.I.D. in Castle Rock, Wash., that unlike other hounds, this 18-year-old pooch can go wherever he pleases. Signs at the North County Recreation Sports Complex read, "No pets allowed inside baseball complex or on soccer fields, except Bear Dog." The black Lab mix has a few health problems now, so his owner Don Caulfield doesn't let him go to the baseball fields any more, but Bear Dog still tries to sneak out when he hears kids playing ball. Mayor Paul Helenberg said Bear Dog "is quite the legend" and when he passes away, "We'll do something special" like erect "a monument." [Source]
