Bad news for book lovers: Libraries are swarming with bedbugs
12/7/2012Oh, books. These days, books are only slightly less relevant than webisodes for unproduced TV shows. And real, paper-filled books look to be set to join CDs and VHS tapes on the dustheap of oblivion. Here's another reason to worry over the future of books: Librarians are reporting record numbers of bedbugs infecting their collections, shelves, and even their furniture, resulting in quarterly checks by bedbug dogs and the use of super-heated compartments to kill bugs. One way to mitigate risk is to stick with unpopular titles, one librarian said: "You probably don’t want to check out a popular book. Maybe try old history books." [Source]
