Behold a roundup of coolest 'Call Me Maybe' covers6/26/2012
THE NOW video -- Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" is a runaway train that won't stop until it's an earworm across the globe, or so it seems. The song has been wearing the crown on the Billboard charts since mid-June and already has a zillion cover tributes. The top five "Call Me Maybe" covers on msnNOW's list include a death metal version that you know set out to demolish the original but only proved that even under all that rage, there still lies a catchy tune. Then Tay Zonday of "Chocolate Rain" fame took a crack at singing it as low as he could -- because why not, right? President Obama's cover pieced together from all of his speeches cannot be denied, if only for how much time it must have taken to edit. Jimmy Fallon tried to outdo that one when Carly stopped by his show and they sang a jingly-jangly version with school instruments alongside The Roots. Taking the cake by far, though, is this obscure European radio-station appearance by fellow 2012 pop breakouts, fun., giving "Call Me Maybe" some much-needed indie street cred.
