'Ben Franklin' has 220 expressions for drunk
3/23/2012For someone who wasn't a fan of being drunk, Ben Franklin sure had a lot of ways to describe it. In his Pennsylvania Gazette column, Franklin wrote The Drinker's Dictionary, a collection of 220 synonyms for being over-served and, thanks to a guy in Chicago who owns a white wig and an ascot, we now have it in video form. Keith Habersberger (and his John Krasinski-caliber eyebrows) spends six minutes listing everything from "He sees the bears" to our personal favorite, "He's been too free with the Creature." It's surprising how few of these survived the past two centuries and saddens us that "He got crunk" didn't score a mention.
