Berlusconi realizes no one's paying attention to him, honors Mussolini

1/28/2013

Epically bad move, dude. Former Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi is coming under fire for comments he made on Sunday that defended Fascist dictator Benito Mussolini for "having done good" and even for backing Hitler in the Third Reich days. What's worse: Berlusconi made these remarks at none other than a Holocaust memorial event held in Milan on Sunday — aka International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Memory refresher: A whopping 7,000-plus Jews were deported under Mussolini's regime, and nearly 6,000 were killed. In 1938, Mussolini's regime also passed the "racial laws," keeping Jews out of Italy's universities and certain other professions. Hours after Berlusconi uttered the statements, he made his first good decision of the day and apologized. [Source]
