Bettor cashes 45-to-1 ticket after Norfolk State upset
3/17/2012So, who was most delirious after Norfolk State pulled off the biggest point-spread upset in the history of March Madness? Start with the students on the Virginia campus, who gathered to watch their 15th-seeded Spartans buck the odds to beat No. 2 seed Missouri 86-84. Or, maybe it was the fans of Missouri's hated rival, Kansas, who treated the Spartans to a standing ovation when they returned to the court. But chances are it was a bettor, like the one who held a ticket worth $5,520 after wagering $120 at 45-1 odds on the 21.5-point 'dogs. "We finally get an underdog to come in," said SuperBook director Jay Kornegay, "and this is what happens."
