Beyoncé and Jay-Z raise cash and cachet for Obama campaign

9/19/2012

An association with such big names as Beyoncé and Jay-Z is social capital in the bank for President Obama, maybe worth even more than the $4 million donated at a fundraiser at Jay-Z's exclusive 40/40 night club. In her speech, Beyoncé said it was an honor to host the event for the prez and that she and Jay-Z "believe in his vision." And it's lucky that Obama brought home some bacon on the night, or he could have been in the doghouse at home. "Michelle, Sasha and Malia are mad at me because they aren't here," the POTUS told the 100 very cool, very rich people who went along. And, of his "friendship" with Jay-Z, he remarked they had plenty in common: "We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are." Ain't that the truth. [Source]
