DEBUNKED: the bilingual dog story in your Facebook feed was hella fake
12/16/2012There are some red faces on the Web today, as sites ‘fess up to being fooled by a fake story about (of all things) bilingual dogs. New York magazine, The Drudge Report and Yahoo! News all fell for the hoax, claiming a Montreal politician had proposed a law to ensure dogs "understood commands in both English and French." Canadian satirical radio show "This is That" cooked up the fake report, then watched with shocked amusement as large chunks of online media swallowed the ruse, including thousands of Facebook sharers. It goes without saying: msnNOW didn’t fall for it.
