Billy Corgan says he changed the world, then rips 'poseurs'
3/13/2012Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan has surveyed today's music landscape, and he is not pleased. "Don't call it rock 'n' roll," Corgan said during a chat at Austin's SXSW festival. "I was part of a generation that changed the world - and it was taken over by poseurs." If such puffed-up talk about his own impact makes Corgan a "poseur" himself, well, so be it. Corgan also ranted that his musical genius wouldn't get noticed today unless he set himself on fire on YouTube, sneering that fame itself is the goal for many young musicians -- "not to be respected, not to be dangerous." He's at least making good on the latter.
