Cop makes autistic teen his 'backup' deputy, feel-good vibes flow1/23/2013
When Blaize turned 18, his birthday wish was to be a police officer. Rather than dashing the dreams of her mentally disabled autistic son, Louisiana mom Angie Richard arranged to get him a cop uniform from the Jennings Police Department, along with a station tour, a glimpse inside a patrol car, and his own JPD certificate and coin. But Officer Mike Hill took it a step further. The Jennings cop declared Blaize his "backup" deputy and since their meeting, the officer has taken it upon himself to make personal visits to the Richard home to check in on his young partner. The attention from the police department has "put a smile on his face from ear to ear," mom says. [Source]
