Blind ultramarathoner trains by himself, is inspiring as hell

4/16/2012

Simon Wheatcroft doesn't let blindness stop him from being a badass. The 29-year-old Brit is an ultramarathoner who often trains for grueling 100-mile races by himself after he memorized a three-mile course near his house that even features some roadside running. Wheatcroft told The Guardian that he's run into a few posts but that you "only run into a post once" before you take note of where it is. He also doesn't dwell on the negatives. "I try to concentrate on the millions [of footsteps] that go right rather than the 10 or 15 that go wrong," he said. Cue you breaking those running shoes out of storage.
