Bob Costas blasted for NFL halftime lecture on US 'gun culture'
12/3/2012Bob Costas decided to use halftime of the Dallas-Philadelphia game last night to give America a lecture about gun control in between commercial breaks for Pizza Hut and Budweiser. The pocket-sized broadcaster climbed onto his tiny soapbox to offer his perspective on the Jovan Belcher murder-suicide, a move that was roundly criticized. Costas opened his remarks by mentioning the "unfathomable events in Kansas City" before quoting Fox Sports columnist (and Kansas City resident) Jason Whitlock to condemn "our current gun culture." Twitter immediately exploded. "Only fools blame tools instead of human failings," gun enthusiast Ted Nugent wrote, a sentiment that was echoed in countless other 140 character bursts. [Source]
