Man reunited with stolen dog, learns he was used as bait for fights2/19/2013
When Bob Moreland's German Shepherd, Black Jack, was stolen, he worried that he would never see the dog again. When he was found ten months later, Black Jack was in worse shape than he could've imagined. The dog was discovered wandering through a Florida neighborhood, maimed and wearing a collar officials said was of the type put on animals used for fighting bait. It was "so tight it had embedded into his flesh," a vet observed. Black Jack had been chained down to lure other dogs into the ring. After he was found, he was taken to the Big Dog Ranch Rescue where volunteers worked with the traumatic animal, hoping to "erase the horror he endured." And, thanks to the dog's implanted microchip, he was reunited with Moreland. [Source]
