Baby bobcat hurt in wildfire follows rescuers until they take her in
8/31/2012Chips the baby bobcat had not been having a good summer. First, her natural habitat was ravaged by wildfires. Then, she was caught in the blaze and suffered second-degree burns to her little paws. As wildfire staff tried to clean up the area, Chips wouldn't stop following one, even climbing onto his boot. Once he realized that Chips was alone — evident by the lack of grown-up bobcat tracks around her — he brought Chips (now named after the wildfire she was rescued from) back to Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care. Now safe, she's being fed "several pulverized mice" every day and will remain there until she’s ready to return to the wild. [Source]
