Boiling water acts funky when thrown out a window in -41 degree air
12/17/2012Anyone who has lived in a town with a harsh winter climate has seen the boiling-water-freezing-in-midair trick, but the twist of throwing it off a building in exceptionally cold air makes for a more distinctive spectacle. (Don't worry if you can't understand what the guy is saying in this video from Eastern Europe; just enjoy the action.) Even the hardest northerner has to admire a freeze-your-face-off air temperature of -41 degrees Fahrenheit, which is so unthinkably cold that the boiling water in this video not only instantly vaporizes into fog, but then eerily hangs there and floats away like a winter spirit. We're freezing just watching this.
