Bones found in basement might be prehistoric bison
5/3/2012What do you think might be lurking in your basement? One couple in Canada's Yukon Territory were stunned to discover what's believed to be a 10,000-year-old bison skeleton in theirs while digging to install new power lines. Craig Duncan and Sandy Murphy say they had dug about 3 feet down when Duncan spotted what looked like a hoof next to bone pieces. Duncan alerted the Yukon Department of Tourism and Culture, which sent representatives to examine his basement. What paleontologists found was a near-complete bison skeleton that they estimate dates back 10,000 years. Scientists say the area had most likely been under a prehistoric lake and the bison may have fallen in and drowned.
