Book claims Bill Clinton called Barack Obama an 'amateur'

5/11/2012

Edward Klein's new Obama biography is making waves with a claim that Bill Clinton encouraged Hillary to leave her job as Secretary of State to run against President Obama in the 2012 primaries. President Clinton is quoted as telling Hillary the country needs her, and "the economy's a mess; it's dead flat. America has lost its Triple-A rating. ... You know better than Obama does." The most incendiary comment? According to Klein, Clinton also said, "Barack Obama is an amateur." Bill Clinton's spokesman said the quotes were "totally and completely false," but regardless of any alleged advice, Hillary Clinton seems loath to take up the campaign trail, remarking during her tour of Asia that "It's time for me to get off the high wire."
