Boy shoots 45 stories up into the sky and kills a bird with his face

7/27/2012

The thin line between “fun-scary” and “scary-scary” was crossed by a boy on a roller coaster in New Jersey who struck an airborne bird with his face. Or the bird hit the boy — we’re not trying to blame anyone here. Suffice to say, luckily the boy escaped with minor injuries and is recovering, whereas the bird’s body has been turned over to the Health Department. The Kingda Ka coaster, at 45 stories high, is the world’s tallest roller coaster and can reach speeds of up to 128 mph. Despite the incident, it was open 30 minutes later to delight more patrons (and surprise more high-flying birds).
