Boy Scouts reportedly close to ending ban on gay members

1/28/2013

The Boy Scouts of America is considering removing its ban on gay members, according to unnamed officials within the organization. The group's board of directors is expected to vote on a measure that would remove the ban from the national group’s rules, leaving the decision on whether to admit gay individuals to local organizations. If the ban is lifted, the change could be announced next week. The Boy Scouts reaffirmed its ban last July after a committee voted unanimously that it was the "best policy" to keep the ban in place. Multiple sponsors, including UPS and Major League Soccer, have severed ties with the group because of the ban. [Source]
