Tough Beagle survives 70-foot leap from bridge

Brandi the beagle freaked out her owners when she vanished after escaping her harness during an evening walk next to the river in Burlington, N.J. Alexis and Robert Lorenz were further horrified when police told them their 7-year-old dog had jumped from the Burlington-Bristol Bridge. Despite the 70-foot drop, Brandi survived the fall and was seen swimming to shore. After searching for Brandi in the darkness, Alexis finally found her tough canine on the embankment, bruised but not broken after her leap. People had spotted her on the bridge and tried to grab her, but she jumped, apparently due to a phobia she has of strangers stemming from trauma that occurred before the Lorenzes adopted her.  Safe again at home, her family has now given Brandi a new nickname, "Leaping Licker."
