Yep, brass, last in style during the Victorian Era, is apparently an effective killer of bacteria, according to new research. Unlike plastic and stainless steel surfaces now commonplace in many public spaces, brass and copper not only kill bacteria, but also its DNA. Steel and plastic surfaces allow bacteria to live, which means when you touch that subway train pole or escalator railing, you’re picking up an untold number of disgusting bacteria. [Source]
