Brave black Lab stays beside fallen friend in busy traffic
4/15/2012A dog's loyalty is a treasured thing, but sometimes it can be heartbreaking, too. Such was the case with the 2-year-old black Labrador in La Puente, Calif., who refused to leave the side of a canine friend who had been struck and killed by a passing car. Another motorist put down traffic cones on Hacienda Boulevard to protect the guard dog until animal control officials could attend to her. Now Grace, as they're calling her, is at a shelter, awaiting a claim from her owner or possibly adoption by a new family -- who will get a companion as brave and true as they come.
