Man who breast-feeds told he can't lead breast-feeding group8/25/2012
Should a man be able to lead a breast-feeding group? What if that man was born a woman -- and kept all of his original reproductive organs intact, leaving him capable of becoming pregnant? That’s the scenario faced by Canadian Trevor MacDonald, who was born a woman but is now a transgender man. He gave birth to a baby boy, and with the help of the La Leche League, breastfed his son. Now, MacDonald is fighting a La Leche policy that doesn't allow men to be leaders, saying it's "your experience that counts in peer-to-peer support" and that the group's policy should evolve.
