'American Psycho' scribe rips dead rival a new one on Twitter
9/7/2012Bret Easton Ellis has less than zero respect for the dead. In a decidedly one-way literary slap fight, the “American Psycho” scribe took to Twitter Thursday to rip into revered “Infinite Jest” author David Foster Wallace, who committed suicide in 2008, calling him “the most tedious, overrated, tortured, pretentious writer of my generation,” adding that Wallace “made me embarrassed to have any kind of ties to the publishing scene.” Ellis had choice words for the late author’s many fans, too, saying, “Anyone who finds David Foster Wallace a literary genius has got to be included in the Literary Doucebag-Fools Pantheon.” [sic] Of course, kicking a guy when he’s too dead to defend himself doesn’t make you a douchebag at all.
