Brew a pot of coffee now if you want to live longer, study says
5/17/2012We're used to hearing about things we love being bad for us -- from sunshine to sugar. But for once something you can't live without may actually make you live longer: coffee. A study by the National Institutes of Health and AARP revealed that drinking coffee nudged up the chances of living longer. Men who drank two to three cups of coffee a day were 10 percent less likely to die by a certain age than those who drank no coffee, while women coffee drinkers were 13 percent less likely to die. So, while coffee can raise blood pressure in the short term, it may be beneficial in the long run. We'll let the good news percolate while we brew a fresh pot right now.
