Farmer plants heart-shaped meadow in memory of wife
7/13/2012
When Winston Howes' wife died suddenly 17 years ago, he immediately began planning a remarkable tribute to their 33 years of marriage. The U.K. resident began planting young trees in a six-acre field on his property but kept a perfect, heart-shaped meadow in the center that pointed toward their childhood home. The meadow, which is surrounded by thousands of oak trees, is hidden from ground-level view, but Howes' design was spotted when a hot air balloon traveled overhead and a passenger snapped photos of the beautiful memorial. Howes said he regularly goes into the meadow just to sit and think, and added, "It is a lovely and lasting tribute to her which will be here for years." [Source]
