British student freaked out by buttons

Phobias are fairly common, but some are, well, just weird. For example, a 21-year-old British woman suffers from koumpounophobia (a fear of buttons). Because of this fear, Hannah Matthews can only wear clothing with zippers or other types of closures. The student first showed signs of button panic at the age of five and is still unable to touch them or get near them. "I know it's irrational and I obviously know a button can't hurt me," she said, "but there's just something about the shape and the texture that freaks me out." The condition also afflicted the late Apple supremo Steve Jobs, which explains why he would stick to wearing turtlenecks.
