Tardy brothers wait six years to claim $5 million lottery prize
10/18/2012As well as the lottery, we think these brothers have won the prize for extreme patience. Andy Ashkar, 34, and his brother, Nayel, 36, have just been announced as the winners of a $5 million lottery prize — that they won six years ago. Andy bought the winning scratch-off ticket at his parents' convenience store in Syracuse, N.Y. and decided to share the prize with his brother. He told officials he had waited to claim the $5 million because he didn't want the win to "negatively influence" his life. Andy said he wanted to plan properly before being announced as the winner and didn't want the cash to "influence his engagement and subsequent marriage." That’s one way to keep the wedding costs down. [Source]
