White House fails budget deadline after fiscal cliff fiasco

1/15/2013

Deadlines, schmeadlines. Are they really that important? The White House doesn’t seem too worried about them, at least if a letter it just sent to House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) is any indication, informing him that the administration will miss the deadline to submit its budget to Congress. The letter blames the tardy “fiscal cliff” deal, which delayed a resolution of tax and spending issues until Jan. 2, forcing the administration to delay its preparations too. The budget delivery is indeed required to be submitted by Feb. 4 by law, but laws are meant to be broken, right? It's not like this is the president or someth -- oh, wait. [Source]
