City asks all residents to join together for synchronized flushing

9/22/2012

Officials in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, are calling upon all citizens to join together at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and do something good for their city: simultaneously flush their toilets. Severe droughts in Southwestern Zimbabwe forced the city to enact strict water rationing measures in order to make it to the rainy season. With the city’s water finally coming back on tonight, the City Council has encouraged more than 1 million residents to join in the coordinated flush to clear out any blockages that may have developed in the sewer system. Good luck with that. If the plan doesn’t work, it looks like there’s about to be a sudden increase in demand for Zimbabwean plumbers. [Source]
