Le Whopper: Burger King opens first French store since 1997
12/26/2012Remember the scene in "Pulp Fiction" where John Travolta’s Vincent Vega is dropping knowledge on the little differences between Europe and America? Specifically, the question where Samuel L. Jackson’s Jules Winnfield asks what they call a Whopper in France. Recall Vega’s reply? "I don't know, I didn't go in a Burger King." Well, neither did the French, which is why the burger chain closed its 39 French stores in 1997. Now, The King is making a comeback in France, opening its first restaurant there in 15 years in the Marseille airport in partnership with a company that operates highway service stations.
