10 wonderful weirdos spotted at Burning Man 2012
8/31/2012The oft-mocked, but incredibly popular (50,000 attended in 2011) Burning Man festival kicked off Monday in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert and runs through Sept. 3. The annual gathering is “dedicated to community, art, self-expression and self-reliance.” The festival is known for attracting an eclectic (and eccentric) group of participants. This year’s theme is “Fertility 2.0,” which “contemplates the tendency of any being or living system to create abundant life.” OK, then. Naturally, when you have a large gathering of people expressing themselves in the desert, you get some colorful personalities. In the images above are our 10 favorite weirdos from the festivities.
