Buying a massive box of pasta can be charity, not gluttony
5/11/2012Attention, Turkish shoppers: You can now buy a box of dried pasta weighing half a metric ton for $560, sold conveniently in a 1.5-meter high cardboard box (Remember to lift with your knees!) by Italian pasta-maker Barilla in the cities of Istanbul, Edirne and Bodrum. The Guinness World Records has declared this officially the biggest box of pasta ever produced, and the product has a big heart, too: All revenues will be donated to UNICEF. (And delivery is included in the price!) The mammoth portion of pasta is curiously not offered in Italy, but Turkish shoppers, if you needed a feel-good reason to stop cutting carbs, this is the biggest one you'll ever get.
What would you do with a half ton of pasta?
