California food vendor serves ‘Dead Dogs’ out of real hearse
4/20/2012Salvatore La Barbera placed a "what the hell?" kind of bid for a Cadillac hearse that was being auctioned online. When he actually won, he wasn't sure what to do with the deathmobile -- or the free bonus coffin it came with -- so he filled it with hot dogs. La Barbera's deliciously morbid food truck is the final resting place for Dead Dogs, Ltd. (don't you dare make an Obama joke). His San Jose-based fleet now includes four hot dog hearses, and they've filled more stomachs than they've turned. La Barbera has plans for expansion. "I want to serve outside every DMV office in the state." The DMV? Now that's scary.
Is a food hearse a delicious idea or disrespectful to the dead?
