Model awesomely insults modeling, questions why she's famous at all

2/19/2013

Model Cameron Russell has posed for magazines such as Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. But she's becoming best known for her blunt observations about her profession — and how little it took her to be successful. In an op-ed, Russell questions why a TEDx talk she gave recently went viral as soon as it was posted online and says she doubts that she would have been invited to speak there at all if she didn't look the way she does. Russell says her only qualification for being a model is having won the "genetic lottery," and that "beauty and femininity and race have made me the candy of mass media." Commenters are praising Russell for her frankness, though it’s yet to be seen whether insulting the modeling world will have any impact on her modeling career. [Source]
