Thief who stole woman's campaign signs sends her explanatory postcard
11/6/2012You may need to read this twice to let it sink in — a Florida thief who is calling himself "Bat Masterson" is worried about neighborhood safety. So much so that he (or someone capitalizing on the situation) wrote a postcard to the woman he'd robbed of her campaign signage, explaining he was simply trying to protect their neighborhood. Jill Green in Sarasota, Fla., had Democratic candidate signs snatched from her yard on two occasions. She then received a postcard signed "Bat Masterson" (a 1950s TV character), explaining he lives around the corner and when thieves scope out possible targets and see "pro-Democrat yard signs they automatically assume that the subdivision is filled with retards and half-wits."
