The price of the waxy, sugary, day-glow treat is up 3 percent, thanks to that nasty drought wreaking havoc with corn crops and boosting the price of the corn syrup and oils that go into the candy. Folks on Twitter are taking the news hard: “The economy is doomed,” tweets @WarnerCrocker, while others blame everything from President Obama to price-gouging.
