Candy Crowley says she didn't 'backtrack' on Libya
10/17/2012Unlike the roundly assailed Jim "Sleepyhead" Lehrer, CNN's Candy Crowley has earned kudos from the left and some much louder kvetching from the right, particularly about her handling of a question about the Benghazi consulate attack. When Mitt Romney asserted that President Obama hadn't initially described the event as terrorism, Obama disagreed, and Crowley accurately stated that the president had termed the attack "an act of terror" on Sept. 12. When Crowley later gave Romney credit for his larger point — that the administration had been slow to respond — conservatives accused her of backtracking, which she denies. Points to Crowley for even attempting a nuanced, accurate response in this hyper-partisan world. [Source]
