Insane stunt racers hijack Cali freeway, do tricks on road

Call it guerilla stunt driving. These insane and perhaps mentally unhinged racers invaded a San Francisco freeway Saturday, showing up en masse with at least a half-dozen sideshow cars and taking over the highway for several minutes. The wild crew managed to shut down all lanes of northbound traffic as it descended upon Interstate 880 near Oakland, revving car engines and spinning donuts in a black haze of smoke. "In my 35 years in the department, I've never seen anything like this," said California Highway Patrol Sgt. Diana McDermott. "It's just unreasonable, it looks like something you would see on a video game or something, but these are real-life incidents, and it takes seconds – seconds – for a fatal collision to happen at any time."
