Casting sheet for Acura ad called for 'not too black' actor
4/19/2012Commercial casting sheets often call for specific physical characteristics -- bald, say, or short or muscular build -- but the casting sheet for the popular Acura NSX Super Bowl commercial featuring Jerry Seinfeld is raising eyebrows for its insistence that the black car dealer character be "not too dark." After a miffed actor who didn't get the part turned the sheet over to TMZ, Acura issued a hasty apology, stating: "The casting sheet was only now brought to our attention. We are taking appropriate measures to ensure that such language is not used again in association with any work performed on behalf of our brand."
Do you think the casting sheet description was racist?
