Creepy cat-eating festival underway in Peru

The town of La Quebrada is gearing up for its Gastronomic Festival of the Cat, and we imagine area felines are feeling a bit apprehensive, as dishes like spicy cat stew and grilled feline with herbs hit the tables. The event, which animal rights activists are actively protesting, commemorates early days when slave settlers supposedly had to eat cat meat to survive.
