Airport agents confiscate man's grub: 207 pounds of dried caterpillars

3/1/2013

It's not all drug-busting glory for customs agents. After all, you never can tell what you might find in a passenger's luggage. Take the authorities at London's Gatwick Airport, who opened up four burlap bags checked by a traveler from Burkina Faso and stumbled upon 207 pounds of dried caterpillars, all carefully wrapped in cellophane. The man claimed the bugs were food for "personal consumption," but they were seized anyway for violating controls on products of animal origin. The man was let off with a warning, and probably a suggestion he stick with airline peanuts next trip. [Source]
