Car accident ends very well for cats bound for dinner plates

1/16/2013

More than 1,000 cats that were on their way to be sold to restaurants in the Chinese city of Changsha were rescued after the truck transporting them was in a car accident. Calls went out on China's social media platform Sina Weibo for locals to come help the cats, and after volunteers collectively raised about $1,600, the cats' owner was persuaded to release them into their care. The animals, which were reportedly starving and had not been properly cared for, were sent to shelters and volunteers' homes to be treated. [Source]
