Celebrities embrace tawdry, ultra-pricy 'sex' shoes

Proving that price is no indication of class, Christian Louboutin -- the brand behind the ultra-expensive heels with the iconic red soles -- has debuted a $1,400 pair of pumps that spell out "sex" in Swarovski crystals when the wearer aligns them just so. (There's actually not much subtlety about the look -- it's easily read, even from a distance.) These may seem like the ultimate in luxe-cheese, perfect for a Meatpacking District nightclub, if nowhere else, but celebrities have rallied behind them. The Huffington Post reports that Katy Perry wore them on the red carpet, while 19-year-old Sports Illustrated cover girl Kate Upton wore them to the Jeffrey Fashion Cares fundraising event earlier this week.
