By 2043, whites will no longer make up a majority of Americans

12/13/2012

The Census Bureau reported Wednesday that by 2043, whites will no longer make up the majority of the U.S. population. This news isn’t exactly, well, news, but the timetable has notably shifted to a year later than previous projections. According to the census, the non-Hispanic white population will peak at 200 million in 2024, before entering a steady decline as baby boomers age. By 2060, the U.S. population will be around 420 million, with whites making up 43 percent of the population (it currently is about 64 percent). The population will be 31 percent Hispanic, 14.7 percent black and eight percent Asian. [Source]
