100-year-old men swamped by 100-year-old babes, census data shows

12/11/2012

If you think it's hard to find a date, have a little sympathy for the centenarian set. According to a new report from the U.S. Census Bureau, women aged 100 and older outnumber men of the same age by more than four to one. The data, collected during the bureau's 2012 census, shows that the 53,364 Americans aged 100 and above were also more likely to be white city-dwellers from the Northeast and Midwest parts of the country. The oldest American is 115-year-old Dina Manfredini from Des Moines, Iowa, who inherited the title of world's oldest living person after the death of 116-year-old Besse Cooper last week. [Source]
