Woman only gets $4 million for having her face ripped off by a chimp
12/2/2012You probably remember the horrific story from 2009 of Charla Nash, the woman who had her hands and much of her face ripped off by a 200-pound chimp who was a friend's pet. Only 57, Nash was blinded in the attack, underwent a face transplant and now lives at a nursing home. So when we say she won $4 million from the friend's estate in a lawsuit over the mauling, it hardly seems like a victory. According to the Nash family's lawyer, Charles Willinger, it doesn't begin to cover her medical expenses, and they will be suing Connecticut's Energy and Environmental Protection Department next for allowing the chimp to be kept as a pet.
