Darwin's pros and cons list for getting hitched still rings true today8/15/2012
Brilliant, game-changing scientists are just like the rest of us! He might have had one of the most brilliant scientific minds in history, but Charles Darwin found the prospect of wedded bliss daunting nonetheless. Before the English naturalist popped the question to his cousin and future mother of his ten children, Emma Wedgwood, Darwin scribbled a list of pros and cons. Pros included "Constant companion, (& friend in old age) who will feel interested in one" and the simple, "Better than a dog anyhow." Cons were "Fatness & idleness," "less money for books," and being "forced to visit relatives." Fortunately, the pros list won out and his dear Emma was with him until his death. [Source]
